Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the business. Corcoran was a participant in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February of 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was the second of the family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence was her mother, who was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's early years. At times, her family relied upon deliveries of free food from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who often drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and sneer, especially when he was drinking. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Corcoran later found out that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite failing several courses during her freshman years.
